Top 10 FUN Things to do with Kids or Groups in Tel Aviv
1.Park HaYarkon
This green oasis on the city’s northern edge is a fantastic place to spend the day with kids or in a group. Pack a picnic lunch. Rent bikes and go wandering through the trails. If you’re feeling really energetic, hire a paddle boat by the hour and go for a tour of your own making. Although the water isn’t really safe for swimming in this river, it’s nice to look at and it’s the largest park in the city. Especially on a hot day, it’s the ideal place to relax, unwind and cool off beneath the shade of beautiful trees.
2.Sky Jump
Not solely for kids, this place does cater to a younger crowd. Wall to wall trampolines and climbing walls with safety ropes are a super fun way to expend some energy on a rainy day or after dark. It’s located near the Tel Aviv port so you’ll find great shopping and dining just across the street, and you can walk down to the boardwalk and catch spectacular sunsets right over the sea.
3.Gordon Beach (rentals for surfing, windsurfing, the marina)
One of the most popular beaches, this is where the beautiful people hang. But it’s also the best beach for renting gear. Surfboards, sailboats, diving gear…this is the place where you’ll find it. If you’re into beach volleyball, there are courts with lights so you can play all day and late into the night.
4.Gordon Pool
The locals call this olympic sized outdoor saltwater pool ‘the fountain of youth.’ Certainly it’s the older crowd who swim religiously, but you’ll find all age groups here on warmer days enjoying the children’s pool and the smaller dipping pool next to the serious swim lanes. It’s a great place to come for laps or just bring the kids to swim in a safe place while you chill on a lounge chair nearby.
5.Dizengoff Center
This central, iconic shopping mall is a labyrinth of shops, restaurants and entertainment. One of the most confusing malls you’ve ever been to, it has two identical sides with different shops. On the top floor there’s a cinema and a famous climbing area for toddlers. But unless you’ve got a stellar sense of direction, you’ll probably find yourself wandering in circles to find your way out. That’s part of the charm and fun of this old school arcade. Even the locals still get lost here. Check out our great selection of large, central apartments for rent in Tel Aviv here.
6.Yaffa Slope Park
Located between the Shlomo Bay Promenade and the Second Aliyah Pier, this park in Old Yaffo borders the sea. Its hilly terrain offers fabulous views of Tel Aviv and it’s a great place to chill on a patch of green grass right beside the Med.
7. HaTachana
Originally the area where the first neighborhood in Tel Aviv was built, this newly refurbished train station was once the connection between Yaffo and Jerusalem. Today the area is perfect for walking around with children. All pedestrian, the small avenues wander between upscale boutique stores and chic coffee houses. If you’re interested in military history, the IDF Museum is a short walk from here.
8. Metsitsim Beach
This fantastic beach has a cozy atmosphere, great ice cream, a cafe right on the sand with decent food and a small beach gym. It’s a great place to find a little shady cabana and chill out with a good book while the kids go for a swim. Lifeguards are on duty during the day.
9.Tayelet
The refinished wooden boardwalk of Tel Aviv runs all the way from the northern borders of the metropolis to the south. A constant stream of runners, walkers and bikers use this seaside path for daily exercise, but it’s also a nice place to take a slow stroll and stop along the way at various beaches and beachside cafes. The best place for sunset is usually around Frishman Beach, but no matter where you stand on a clear day you’ll be gifted with an orange sun fading slowly away into the sea.
10.Tel Aviv Museum of Art (interactive space for kids)
Right next to the Opera complex, this beautiful museum has great exhibits and a wide variety of styles. Although the art is always changing, you’ll always find some interactive fun for the kids on the ground level. Take a look at the schedule to find out if there are any interesting classes or lectures before you go.
