Extended Stay in Tel Aviv: A Serviced Apartment Instead of a Hotel Suite

If you have typed “extended stay hotel Tel Aviv” into a search box, you already know what you are looking for: a place to live for a month or more that is run like a hotel but feels like home. In the US that is a category with a name and a dozen chains. In Tel Aviv the category exists, but under a different name. It is the serviced apartment, and TLV2GO has been running them in its own buildings across the center of the city since 2010. This article translates: what an extended-stay traveller expects, where Tel Aviv delivers it, and how the two compare on the things that matter at week four.

What an extended-stay guest actually needs

Ask anyone who has lived out of a hotel for a month what they missed most, and the list comes back the same: five things. a kitchen, a washer and dryer, a separate place to sleep and a place to work, housekeeping that keeps happening, and a rate that falls the longer you stay. A hotel suite delivers one or two of them, usually the sleeping and the housekeeping, and charges a suite premium for the square metres. An extended-stay hotel delivers more of them at the price of a kitchenette and a corridor. A serviced apartment in Tel Aviv delivers all five, in a real apartment, in a real neighbourhood.

What a TLV2GO apartment gives you for a month

A full kitchen with an oven, a hob, a fridge and a Nespresso machine, with cookware and dining ware for the whole household, not a kitchenette with two rings. A washing machine in the apartment, and in many apartments a dryer. A living room with a sofa, a smart TV and a table you can work at, with fast Wi-Fi that holds a video call. Bedrooms with doors that close, from one to three of them, so a family or a pair of colleagues is not sharing one room for a month. Air conditioning in every room, and in most apartments a balcony, a terrace or a garden. Fresh linens and towels, housekeeping on a schedule for long stays, and a Tel Aviv team on a 24/7 service line in English. Check-in from 3:00 PM with a code to the key safe, and a rate that includes electricity, water, internet and municipal charges, with no per-person supplement and no platform commission when you book direct.

Extended-stay hotel versus serviced apartment, at week four

Week one is similar wherever you sleep. Week four is where the two diverge. In a hotel suite the breakfast buffet has become a daily line on an expense report, the laundry goes out in a bag and comes back two days later, the desk is the bed, and the people you see are other guests. In a serviced apartment the breakfast is in your own kitchen, the laundry is Sunday evening, the desk is a desk, and the people you see are the neighbours in the cafe downstairs. The space is different too: a hotel suite in Tel Aviv is a large room, a serviced apartment is an apartment, with rooms. And the price moves the other way as the stay lengthens: hotel rates stay flat or rise into the season, while a serviced apartment moves from a nightly rate to a weekly one and then to a monthly one, each sitting below the last. Our prices page sets out how the rate moves, and our hotel or aparthotel comparison covers the shorter stays.

Who books an extended stay in Tel Aviv

Project teams and consultants on an assignment of one to three months. Relocating employees and their families, landing into a furnished home while they house-hunt; our relocation guide covers that first stretch, and our lease versus serviced comparison the decision that follows it. Medical and academic visitors on fixed programs. Digital nomads who want a season by the sea with a desk and a kitchen. Families spending a month near relatives, or the whole summer. And companies, which book through our corporate housing desk with one invoice for the whole stay.

Where to base a month in Tel Aviv

Choose the neighbourhood the way you would choose a flat, because for a month you are living in it. The center around Rothschild Boulevard puts the business district, the cafes and the nightlife at the door: Mr. Rothschild at 103 Allenby Street and Mr. Katinsky at 41 Nahalat Binyamin Street. Dizengoff Square and Pinsker Street, at Mr. Louis, give you space, with two- and three-bedroom apartments and the penthouses with a private pool. The Old North, at Mr. Ben Yehuda, Mr. Montana and Mr. Brooklyn, is quieter, residential and a few minutes from the beach, which is where relocating families and long-stay guests tend to settle. Every building is owned and run by TLV2GO and listed in the Tel Aviv collection; our neighbourhood guide walks through the districts in more detail.

Booking an extended stay

For a month or longer, write to us rather than booking night by night: long stays are priced on a different footing and the difference is worth the email. Tell us the dates, how many people are coming and what the stay is for, and we will come back the same day with the apartments that fit, the monthly price and how soon you can move in. Extensions are usually simple; tell us early and we keep you in the same apartment or move you to a comparable one in the same building. There is no guarantor, no deposit locked for a year, no lease and no agent, and the invoice can go to your company.

Frequently asked questions

Are there extended-stay hotels in Tel Aviv?

The category exists in Tel Aviv under a different name: the serviced apartment, or aparthotel. TLV2GO runs furnished, hotel-serviced apartments in its own buildings across the city center, available by the night, the week and the month, with the rate falling as the stay lengthens.

What is the minimum stay for a monthly rate?

One month. Stays of a few nights to a few weeks are priced as short stays, with a weekly rate below the nightly one; from a month the stay moves onto monthly terms, and quarter-long stays are priced lower again. Write to us for the monthly structure.

Is housekeeping included for a long stay?

Yes. The apartment is cleaned before you arrive and after you leave, and housekeeping runs on a schedule during long stays, with fresh linens and towels. Nothing is charged separately for cleaning.

Is there a kitchen and a washing machine?

Every apartment has a full kitchen with an oven, a hob, a fridge, a Nespresso machine and cookware, and a washing machine in the apartment; many also have a dryer. These are the two things an extended-stay guest misses most in a hotel suite.

Can my company be invoiced for an extended stay?

Yes. Our corporate housing desk bills the company directly with one invoice covering the apartment, cleaning, Wi-Fi, utilities and municipal charges, and stays the single point of contact for the whole stay.

Can I extend if the project runs long?

Usually yes. Tell us as early as you can and we arrange the extension in the same apartment or a comparable one in the same building. There is no lease to renegotiate and no penalty for leaving earlier than planned.
